Latest goings-on in Abersoch
By Bigtimma

Starting at the Top end of the village with Venetia. After a successful xmas and new year period Marco and Jane are closed until Valentines day when they are open pretty much for the season again. The food is good the place is good and the service is good....if you didn't try it last year make the effort, its well worth it.

Abersoch - Chosen by Soulboy - Photo totallyabersoch.co.uk

Goslings are offering winter short break packages which are keeping the guys there busy...again a good place to eat in the summer

Fresh have been open all winter as usual and have provided many a good night throughout the off season with cheap drinks and good music on an almost weekly basis.

Across the road where the fruit and veg shop was there will be a new arrival this year with Drift moving in from their base down the road. The new shop will have the full range of mens and ladies Superdry goodies as well as a couple of new brands.

The Chippy has provided me with a good few portions of Fish and chips over the winter and its as good as ever.

The Tuds is undergoing a massive refurb to the back bar and patio area which will update the pub massively.

The Sandpiper has changed hands and is now uner the command of Gary, Rob and Ceri who you'll all recognise from various places around the village. The idea is pub, with good beer, San Mig £1.80 a pint, good food, Cheeseburger and chips £5.50...and its a proper mans burger as well! and a nice atmosphere. It scores well and with some comfy seating and some upgrades happening as I write this it could well be the place to be this summer.

Moving down the road a bit, the Deli Cafe is undergoing what can only be described as a MASSIVE refurb. Don't panic it is still open for business and has been all winter as usual. The idea here is to convert the cottage at the rear of the cafe into a restaurant and lounge bar for evening use, with a large patio area out to the rear overlooking a fantastic boatyard! With things as they are and the season looming it might not be complete until later in the season, but when it is it'll be worth a visit for sure.

Most of the other places are keeping it real and plodding on over the winter and most of the clothes shops are gearing up with the next big thing for the discerning shopper. There are rumours about a possible invasion of a couple of shops by a chav brand of clothing but theres nothing concrete yet!

Then of course theres us at the boatyard...thats down the steps next to the shop. We have changed the way we are operating for 2009 and are concentrating mainly on powerboats and launching for the upcoming season. We will still be selling the excellent Ocean Kayaks, Yamaha Engines and Rib-X ribs and also the odd toy boat here and there, but mainly we will be offering park and launch at the best yard in the village and a price that won't break the bank!

Thats my plug over so what else is new....well not much....but do remember that your journey down from the North West will be speeded up and made much nicer by the new road from Clynnog to Llanelhearn which is coming along nicely. Some of the new sections are open already although there is a 30mph limit it is much better for towing boats and caravans along....but as always watch out for Mr Bruntrums minions with their speed cameras, they're out there!

So the new season beckons and many of you will be readying caravans and getting bedding ready for that first visit of the season and hopefully it will be a great one.

Enjoy it!

Summer 2009

It seems like summer is nearly here. Some of us (like Welsh Diamond) are down now until September. Some others like me are heading down with the family when school is out in a couple of weeks.

So, lets have an update please. What's changed, improved, got worse, stayed the same? I love a bit of info before I come down, it gives me something to dream about when I'm staring out of the window at the A6.

Beach Huts

The beach huts are a part of nearly every photo taken on the main beach.

Do you love them, hate them, don't care either way?

Do you own one or wish you owned one?

Tell us all your beach hut related stories.

I personally love them, I don't have one but wish I did. Love the ones with the pictures on, especially the one with three seagulls. In my beach hut dreams, my hut has blue and pink stripes.

What about everyone else?

I am always looking around the various Llyn websites.

Probably one of the 'lesser' known ones is www.rhiw.com

There are some excellent photos on there including some aerial ones taken from a paramotor.

Have a look round and enjoy!

Static Caravans

Following Caddyshacks original post about static vans a couple of months ago, I am now seriously considering one.

I would like to thank caddyshack and BardseySound for the replies they sent last time and am keen to know how Caddyshack got on in his search.

I am now interested in any info anyone can give me on buying, site fees and availability of pitches. I would also be keen on any info on individual sites good (or bad by PM) if anyone has got anything to offer.
I am a complete static van virgin and the only things I know so far are from this site.

I would also be interested in any sites away from Abersoch, if they are nice and quiet (or cheap)

Thanks for any help in advance.

The weather was amazing wasnt it?

Sadly i was stuck at home revising for my exams.

I only saw the sun from my bedroom window or when i went for a break.

Hopefully this weather will keep up for a while.

How many people are sitting in work today with sunburn i wonder?

I will be back there next weekend proberly sitting in the rain.

I have noticed that the black rock in the sand at the Yacht Club end of the beach is becoming more visible. Is this just a winter phenomenon or is someone stealing the beach?

Abersoch Quality Homes (AQH)

I am just putting a blatant plug in for Debra at Abersoch Quality Homes
http://www.abersochqualityhomes.co.uk/html/our_properties.html

I have rented a couple of properties with her now - and the properties and service has been excellent.
Last time we needed to get non-standard dates and she managed to accomodate this without any fuss.

I have now recommended her to family and friends and have had excellent reports back from all involved.

I know Cheeky has used Debra as well and been impressed.

So if anyone is thinking of booking a cottage in the area, I can definitely give AQH a thumbs up

Hi everyone, was up at Abersoch on Friday the weather was fab. Sunday was chilly in the wind whilst on the beach but their was lots of picnicers and a large group having a barbecue. As you know I am looking for a static caravan (in wanted adds)Their is no shortage actually, I viewed at least 8 over the weekend and all reasonably priced. Maybe the credit crunch has landed slightly and people are feeling the pinch. Anyway good start to the season for me, easter here I come.
